Concession
Concession linking words are used to express opposition between two ideas. They include various items such as: yet, as against, contrary to, in contrast to, conversely, in spite of, unless, or else, still, otherwise, on the one hand, on the other hand, in any case, though, even though, although, though,instead of, unlike,whereas, while, nevertheless, however, then, moreover, furthermore, in addition, besides...
Enghlish passive rules
In the passive voice, the noun that would be the object of an active sentence appears as the subject of a sentence with passive voice, so, the action described by the verb is being done to the subject by an agent.
Examples:
1. John read the book in one week. (active)
The book was read by John in one week. (passive)
2. Mike buys a car. (active)
A car is bought by Mike. (passive)
For, since, ago
For is used to indicate a period of time.
Example:
- It rained for three days.
- I studied English for six years.
Since is used to refer to the starting point of actions or situations.
Example:
- They have been married since 2005.
- It has not rained since Monday.
Ago is used to say when past events happened, going back from today towards the past.
Example:
- I bought a bicycle four days ago.
- The company was founded 30 years ago.
Adverbs
Adverbs are words that tell you more about verbs, adjectives and other adverbs. Adverbs often tell when, where, why, or under what conditions something happens or happened.
